Changing the Battery in Your Mini Key Fob
The key fob makes it easy to lock and unlock your vehicle from some distance. It also allows you to activate your vehicle's panic button, which can deter break-ins.
If your fob stops working you can fix it by following a few steps. First, make sure that the battery is fresh. Then, try taking it from the ignition and pressing the lock button three times rapidly.
Battery
The battery you use in your key fob is one of the easiest solutions. The device uses a small coin-shaped 3V battery (CR2032 or CR2025) that is generally easy to find in general stores as well as home improvement shops and a few auto parts stores. Make sure you use an original battery -old batteries are usually not good for anything and can cause damage to the circuit board.

Other electronic devices that utilize the same frequency as the fob might also interfere with its signal. This could include garage door openers and tire-pressure monitoring systems. It is even possible that an RF transmitter in your home may be interfering with the fob's signals, but this would be difficult to determine without an examination by a professional.
Your key fob might need to be reprogrammed. The transmitter in your key fob has to be recognized by the Mini's receiver. A unique code is used for each pairing. Fobs must be reprogrammed after they have been disconnected or replaced, after you buy a new one and in some cases when the battery is replaced. Chips with a problem
